For our university sports center we are looking for a
Front desk employee (28-34 hours)

Your job
As an employee of the front desk you act as the first point of contact and answer questions for our athletes and visitors at the front desk and telephone. You hand out materials and keys, sell sports articles and sports rights and take care of accurate registration. You solve problems and (minor) malfunctions and supervise the (judicious) use of the sports locations, materials, equipment and the observance of the house rules by the users of our location. As an Emergency Response Officer (ERO) you provide assistance in case of sports injuries and you have a coordinating role in evacuations and emergency situations.

The Sports Center is open from 8:30 am to 1:00 am and on weekends from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. You will work a two-week schedule that alternates between day and evening and weekend shifts. We are looking for a front desk employee for 28-34 hours per week.
You will work together with fellow front desk employees, various sports teachers and employees of the Sports Pub at the sports center at the campus of the University of Wageningen.
 

Your qualities

Your Qualities
You are communicatively strong and have a customer-friendly and service-oriented attitude. You are able to work independently, but certainly not an individualist. In this position the competencies customer orientation, cooperation, accuracy and enthusiasm play an important role.
You also have/are:

  • A completed education at least MBO 4 level in hospitality or administrative/secretarial direction OR you have a comparable working and thinking level;
  • Some experience in front office work;
  • Affinity with sports is an advantage;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch (C1 level) and English language. This is mandatory;
  • You can work with MS Office programs.

The Sports Centre de Bongerd (SCB) of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is responsible for the sports program for students and employees of WUR. A total of 6,500 students and 900 employees actively use the sports center which consists of 45 specialized sports instructors, 9 management and administration staff. The CPC has an initiating and active role in the implementation of the Vital@work health program.
The sports center is located on the edge of campus and is the base for the various student sports clubs. Due to the large number of international students and staff, the language of communication on campus is largely English.
The front desk team consists of 5 permanent employees and several on-call employees. There is an open working atmosphere within the team and people work with great enthusiasm.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €2.715,- and €3.266,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 5). Initially, we offer you a one-year contract.
