Crop Care and Technology Assistant for Climate Chambers
Your job
As a Crop Care and Technology Assistant at the Unifarm research centre of Wageningen University & Research, you will be responsible for managing plant and crop experiments for education and research groups within Unifarm’s climate chambers. Additionally, you will be involved in constructing and modifying research setups in the climate chambers. In this innovative and dynamic environment, you will contribute to a wide range of research projects. For this role, a strong command of the Dutch language is a strict requirement.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Cultivating a wide variety of plants for experiments conducted by education and research groups.
- Constructing and modifying (technical) research setups.
- Identifying plant diseases, abnormalities, and pests.
- Propagating, cultivating, and harvesting various crops.
- Working with automated climate, cultivation, and nutrient systems.
Team
You will be part of the Greenhouse & Climate Chambers team at Unifarm, the plant and crop research centre of Wageningen University & Research. You will work alongside approximately 30 colleagues across four sections and be responsible for managing 45 climate chambers, 25 climate cabinets, and 15 cooling/freezing cells. Together with your 55 colleagues at Unifarm, you will collaborate closely with (international and PhD) students and researchers.
Your qualities
You have strong communication skills and a great sense of responsibility. Additionally, you work accurately and follow protocols.
You also have:
- A completed MBO/MAS qualification in crop cultivation or applied biology, or an MTS qualification.
- A passion for working with plants and crops.
- Experience in plant cultivation.
- Technical experience (preferred).
- A valid spraying licence or the willingness to obtain one.
- A good command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
You must also be available for weekend or on-call duties according to a set schedule.
