New initiative to 'OpenUp' education

What’s the plan?

Merel Middelman, project manager of OpenUp at WUR, outlines the plan: “From now until December 2025, our goal is to promote the culture and practice of Open Education. We’ll begin with an awareness campaign to introduce teachers to Open Education and highlight the benefits and values of making education more open, like equal and inclusive education".

Training

Middelman further explains the OpenUp plans: “Raising awareness is just the first step. We also want to train teachers in how to share and reuse digital open learning materials. This involves collaboration between WUR Library and the Teaching and Learning Centre to create opportunities for teachers to develop their skills in this area. We need to address practical questions like: How do I get started? What about copyright and licensing? And where can I find and share educational materials? We aim to further invest in a workable and efficient infrastructure for finding and sharing digital open learning materials".

OpenUp programme

Along with 23 other Dutch educational institutions, WUR has successfully applied for the subsidy scheme called ‘OpenUp’. WUR will receive financial and practical support from the transformation hub Digital Educational Resources, part of the National Growth Fund programme Npuls, to accelerate Open Education at WUR.
