Lippincott, Wilkins & Williams open access quota soon to be reached
The 2024 maximum for free-of-charge open access publishing in Lippincott, Wilkins & Williams (LWW) journals is expected to be reached by mid-September 2024. Once the quota is reached, WUR authors will have to pay the Article Processing Charges (APCs).
What are the consequences?
If your manuscript is accepted between the moment the cap is reached and 1 January 2025, LWW will still offer to publish your article Open Access, but the costs will no longer be covered by the consortium agreement. You will receive an invoice. You can find the current status of the cap in the information section of each LWW journal in the WUR Journal Browser.
Preferred alternative route to Open Access in LWW Journals
If your funder allows an embargo period of at least 6 months, we advise to publish your article in 2024 behind a paywall and make it by using the Taverne Amendment (article 25fa) of the Dutch Copyright law. Please check whether you fulfil the Taverne requirements.
Other alternative route to Open Access in LWW
You can also self-archive the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM). Please email the AAM of your article to the Library's Open Access team and include the DOI if available. We'll make the AAM available in Research@WUR when the publisher’s embargo period expires.Support
If you have any more questions, please contact the Open Access team. We're happy to help you.
