New to the series is a webinar on recognising predatory journals.

The webinars are scheduled during lunchtime. To join, please email office.library@wur.nl to receive an invitation for the Teams meeting. For more information, click on the calendar item on the right side of this page. You can participate in the following webinars:

Discovering key library services and collections | 11 March

In this webinar, we explore the comprehensive and diverse services the Library offers to support your research. Our tools and resources are designed to enhance your effectiveness and help you achieve greater quality and impact. We also provide a brief overview of our collections, focusing on the most efficient ways to find relevant content.

Author profiles and impact analysis | 18 March

Are you looking to enhance your research visibility and impact? Join us for an insightful webinar where we dive into the essentials of managing your author profiles and analysing your research impact.

Systematic searching for literature | 25 March

You need literature for a literature review, for a systematic review or for some other type of review. How to find the literature you need in the most efficient way? In this webinar you will learn where to identify relevant sources, such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed or APA PsycInfo. You will also learn how to search these sources in a systematic way and how to make well-funded decisions when setting up your search queries. We will also discuss tools that can help you screening and selecting the relevant publications in an effective way.

Open Access publishing | 8 April

This webinar provides a comprehensive overview of Open Access (OA) publishing at WUR. What does the OA policy of WUR and some major funders entail? Which OA options exist? How can you publish OA for free or at a discount? What are Creative Commons licenses? We address these and other questions and also introduce practical tools to publish OA.

Open education and copyrights in teaching materials - hybrid | 10 April

Did you know that as a teacher you often have to deal with copyrights? And that WUR stimulates the sharing and reusing of open educational resources? In this webinar, we'll show the basic rules for using copyrighted materials in Brightspace and what copyright aspects and licenses apply when sharing your own teaching materials. We’ll also show examples of open educational resources that you might want to use and where you can find these. There will also be room for questions. This Library Essential session partly overlaps with the Start to Teach training.

Feel welcome to join this Library Essentials session in Forum Library, room 259.

Research data management | 15 April

In this webinar, you’re introduced to Research Data Management (RDM) concepts, good practices, and tools. What is the difference between RDM, FAIR, and Open data? What is a data management plan, and how can you benefit from good RDM practices? These and other questions are addressed. After this webinar, you’ll have a good idea about RDM, and you’ll know where to find information, support, and tools.

Recognising questionable and predatory journals | 13 May

In this webinar we explore the rising concerns about questionable publishing practices, the grey area between responsible publishing and fraudulent behaviour. Why can publishing in these “grey area” journals be attractive at first glance? What are the consequences for you as a researcher and for science, in general? We discuss common characteristics of questionable – and also predatory - journals, and focus on tools and checklists that you can use to check the journal's trustworthiness. After this webinar you know what you can do to recognise and avoid questionable and predatory journals.
