Technician Food Process Engineering

Are you a technical expert who would like to contribute to a better world, by working on more sustainable ways to produce healthy foods? Do you enjoy working in a diverse team, coaching very talented, young people? Do you like working with the newest equipment and methods, and perhaps even would like to develop new equipment and methods yourself? Then we have the vacancy for you, as (Lab) Technician in our chair group on Food Process Engineering.
What are you going to do? You will:
- work as part of an integrated technical team, which is itself part of the overall staff of the research group;
- have the opportunity to develop strong expertise on some of our experimental infrastructure, such as modern 3D food printers, innovative drying technics and automated experimentation robots;
- advise the scientists in the group, carry out research, and teach and coach BSc, MSc, PhD students and postdocs on the use of equipment and infrastructure;
- be involved in teaching practical courses on food process engineering, as member of an extended teaching team;
- become the manager of several essential tools/techniques. This involves knowing how to use these, but also being the specialist on the applicability and interpretation of the results;
- in time, become the manager of one of our labs, responsible for the daily routine and safety; of course supported by your technical colleagues.
Your qualities
You:
- have a BSc degree in Chemical or Process Technology, Laboratory/Analysis, Food Technology, Life Sciences or equivalent
- have an inquisitive mindset, with a drive to discover new things and explore new paths
- are interested in working in an international academic context. If you do not have this experience, there will be room for personal development
- are a communicative person, and are able to present your work and discuss things with (groups of) students
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about Language level B2.
