Your job

Do you have a technical background, preferably with experience in the pharmaceutical or hospital environment? Are you ready for a new challenge in an inspiring and technically demanding environment? Then apply as a Technical Service Employee at WBVR in Lelystad!

We are looking for an enthusiastic technician with a background in measurement and control technology or mechanical engineering. After a thorough training period, you will be capable of handling all aspects of installations, equipment, and systems as a technical service employee. The work is often complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach due to biological safety considerations. The great thing is that there are often no standard work methods or instructions, so your creativity is highly valued!

What will you do?

  • you will be responsible for detecting, securing, and resolving malfunctions;
  • you will inspect installations, develop maintenance plans, and execute them independently in accordance with applicable standards and (biological) safety requirements;
  • you will propose improvements to optimize buildings, systems, and processes and will be involved in both hands-on execution and overseeing activities that are outsourced;
  • you will manage the technical administration related to your work, maintain necessary materials and tools, and arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary;
  • you will perform activities according to the applicable quality and safety procedures and propose improvements to these procedures;
  • you will stay updated on relevant developments, particularly concerning HCU-related equipment, installations, and systems, and contribute to work and project groups regarding the preparation, design, execution, and follow-up of innovation, expansion, or adaptation projects.
The department
The Management Department is responsible for the (technical) security of the High Containment Unit, logistics activities, Services, (technical) operations, and the execution or monitoring of maintenance, renovations, and/or innovations. The Technical Service (TD) is led by the Technical Services Team Leader and is responsible for all maintenance tasks on the facilities, both preventive and corrective. The TD consists of eleven all-round employees, each with their own task field, but they are also multi-skilled regarding buildings and utilities. This multi-functionality is necessary for adequate troubleshooting both during and outside regular working hours.

Your qualities

  • you have completed a technical education at MBO level 4 (preferably with a background in mechanical engineering or measurement and control technology);
  • you preferably have experience working in a pharmaceutical or hospital environment or similar conditions;
  • you are available for on-call duty and can be on-site within 30 minutes during this period;
  • you possess a category B driving license;
  • you have problem-solving skills and can work well in a team;
  • you are careful, quality-oriented, and have a good sense of humor;
  • the work will take place in buildings where, after leaving, an additional quarantine restriction applies (based on EU regulations). This means it is not allowed to keep even-toed ungulates. Also, for 72 hours after the work, it is not allowed to have contact with these animals or visit poultry production farms. You are willing to comply with these rules.
You can see that there are plenty of challenges ahead for you. These challenges can also be seen as development opportunities. So if you do not yet have the track record required in the job description but do have solid work experience, we would still like to invite you to apply.

Where will you work?
The work will (partly) take place in buildings where, after leaving, an additional quarantine restriction applies (based on EU regulations). This means it is not allowed to keep even-toed ungulates. Also, for 72 hours after the work, it is not allowed to have contact with these animals or visit poultry production farms.

HCU
The work is carried out in a high-containment unit by an enthusiastic team of well-trained analysts in collaboration with animal disease experts (see http://www.wur.nl/nl/Expertises-Dienstverlening/Onderzoeksinstituten/Bioveterinary-Research/Faciliteiten/high-containment-unit.htm).
