Scrum Master

With 200 employees, our IT department provides a modern ICT environment for education and research. We work in multidisciplinary teams on current issues in the areas of digitization, self-service, security, data management, high performance computing and cloud strategy. In order to best meet the constantly changing needs of our users, our department is in a constant state of flux. Like many organizations, WUR has transformed in recent years into an Agile organization. In doing so, of course, supported by the Scrum Masters, we continue to improve continuously. We have a close and experienced Scrum Master team and are looking for a new colleague to join this team.
In the position of Scrum Master, these are your duties and responsibilities:

  • You coach teams (Scrum and Kanban) towards effective collaboration as well as culture and behavioral changes that lead to high performing teams;
  • Together with the other Scrum Masters and our Agile Coaches you work on the continuous improvement of our Agile organization. Among other things by learning from each other in the Scrum Master Guild;
  • You work closely with the Product Owner with the goal of realizing his/her product vision and promote an effective working relationship between Product Owner and the team;
  • You teach and help teams to understand/apply Agile principles and values and know how to keep the team excited about this;
  • You help teams focus on creating high value increments that meet the team's quality requirements.

Your qualities

  • You have several years of work experience as a dedicated Scrum Master;
  • You have experience coaching multiple Agile teams simultaneously; 
  • You can dream the Agile principles and you have a clear understanding of what “servant leadership” means to you. You continuously work on your knowledge of Agile; 
  • You have conviction and perseverance to change behavior;
  • You have a hands-on mentality and roll up your sleeves when necessary for the growth of the team.
