Soil, LIVE! Concert & soil safari

Soils host an extremely high diversity of species and have frequently been described as “the poor man’s tropical rainforest”. Soil scientists have made great advances in unraveling who these belowground inhabitants are and their crucial role in transitioning to biodiversity-positive food systems. Yet, the general public remains unaware of this role and the overall beauty of soil life.

For this reason, Soil, LIVE! promises to be a lovely evening in Wageningen where you will be musically introduced to several beautiful underground beings in a concert played by De Harmonie Wageningen, composed by sound-artist Remco de Kluizenaar. Remco worked on the story of the music in close collaboration with soil ecologists Marie Zwetsloot and Giulia Bongiorno from WUR. After the concert you will meet the main characters from the concert in a soil life safari!

NIOO-KNAW, organiser of "Bodemdierendagen", presents this evening as the opening festivity of their 10th anniversary of Bodemdierendagen. Bodemdierendagen organises the safari together with support from WUR Soil Biology Group. Both safari and concert will provide in Dutch and English. There are three timeslots: starting at 19.30 hrs, 20.00 hrs and 20.30 hrs.
