Social safety
Social safety is the highest priority at WUR. We look out for each other to create a pleasant and safe environment to work and study at WUR. Together, we stand for a positive work and study climate where we treat each other with respect, and employees, PhD's and students feel safe to develop their talents to the full. It is thus essential that we can call each other to account and point out if things are not going well. And that you can get help and advice about this.
With ‘Oog voor elkaar ‘(‘Looking out for each other’) - a social safety programme - extra emphasis will be given to improving social safety at WUR in the coming years. In the ‘Social Safety Code of Conduct’, you can read more about how WUR fosters a safe and inclusive work and study environment and what the organisation consequently expects from its employees and students.
Do you know what to do if you witness undesirable behaviour or have been exposed to it?
If you have experienced undesirable behaviour or have witnessed it, you should know that you don't have to face the situation alone.
- First of all: seek support and talk about it with people you can trust (colleagues, fellow students, managers).
- You can always contact one of WUR’s confidential counsellors for staff (incl. PhDs) or for students. All information will be treated confidentially. They will offer support, help and refer you to internal or external social workers if necessary.
- If there is a structural pattern of undesirable behaviour within your team/department, please contact the WUR ombudsperson. The ombudsperson is independent and can initiate an investigation into these types of abuse.
- You can also always phone or email the WUR Social Safety Contact Point. The contact point is for anyone who requires information or who wants to ask or talk about undesirable behaviour or social safety. And if you do not know how to deal with a situation or who to turn to. All information will be treated confidentially.
- You will find an overview of the various individuals and organisations that you can apply to in the guides on this page (students, staff, PhDs).
