Seed production and quality management
Wageningen Seed Science Centre (WSSC) studies the principles that underlie the physiology of seed development in various crops.
The objectives are:
- to ensure a high yield and high quality seed production,
- to assess the period when the seed is most vital and ready to be harvested,
- to study the role of the seed microbiome in seed quality and seedling resilience.
This knowledge benefits farmers who produce their own seed, as well as seed producers in the commercial market.
