I work as a PostDoc within the Seeds4Ever project. This project revolves around the finding that for germination to occur, translation of mRNA is one of the first things that needs to happen. Our team studies how mRNA can be stored for years and decades inside seeds with little decay.
Personally I am interested in visualising proteins and mRNA inside seeds in both the model organism Arabidopsis as well as the crop lettuce. Using confocal microscopy, protein-tagging, mRNA staining and CRISPR/Cas9 I study how and where mRNA is stored inside seeds.
