Do you have experience with LC-MS-based techniques? And are you eager to apply this to contribute to safe food and feed for public health? Do you want to know everything about PFAS? Do you have the ability to motivate your colleagues? Then you might be the person we’re looking for to strengthen one of our research teams! We have an opening for a Senior Research Analyst PFAS in our Organic Contaminants team.

What will you be doing?
As a Senior Research Analyst PFAS, you will be a coach on the work floor for your colleagues in the team, a group of around 6 BSc-educated analysts. This makes you the senior research analyst we’re seeking.

Additionally, you will:

  • Be involved in method development, optimization, and validation for PFAS in a wide variety of food and feed materials, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Work with the best LC-MS equipment in the Netherlands!
  • Be part of the crisis service conducting PFAS research for the NVWA;
  • Analyze results, interpret, report, and proactively discuss them in collaboration with experts and project teams, including recommendations for next steps;
  • Be responsible for critically evaluating equipment, methods, and techniques, and you are expected to proactively make improvement suggestions;
  • Participate in routine and research projects, as well as perform ad hoc support analyses under the ISO 17025 quality assurance system;
  • Writing publications and giving presentations at conferences is also possible.
You’ll be warmly welcomed to our enthusiastic PFAS team. Besides in-depth expertise, our colleagues are known for their supportive and flexible approach. Together, we work toward safe food and feed for public health.

Your qualities

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry or an equivalent degree;
  • Has at least 7 years of practical experience with LC-MS analyses, preferably of organic contaminants in a routine or research environment, such as the pharmaceutical sector or the food industry;
  • Possesses natural leadership skills and a high level of empathy;
  • Is decisive and can take a directive approach;
  • Has growth ambitions for the medium to long term.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B2. In case of non-Dutch nationality, the willingness to learn Dutch.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3283,- and €4687,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours a week can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
