Your job

Are you looking for a challenging job where you can grow? Do you want to deepen your knowledge of subsidy schemes and everything that comes with it? Do you want to work for the top employer in the education sector?
We, Wageningen University & Research (WUR), are looking for a Project Controller for 36 hours per week! Will you be our new colleague?

What will you be doing?
As a Project Controller, you are responsible for the administration and financial management of (subsidized) research projects. From budgeting to final settlement, you will translate financial matters into research outcomes.

In collaboration with the business unit controller and project leaders, you ensure good control and risk management for the projects of several chair groups within the Agrotechnology and Food Science Group (AFSG). You maintain an overview of the financial side of these projects, identify any potential risks early, and take action if needed. Additionally, you contribute to the execution of internal control measures and provide critical input for the assessment of procedures.

  • you coordinate and oversee (subsidy) projects and handle their financial administration;
  • you are the point of contact for the business unit controller and project leaders, maintaining good contact with external project partners and other stakeholders;
  • you work closely with colleagues in the back office and financial administration;
  • you identify potential financial risks in a timely manner and take action where necessary;
  • you close each financial period with a complete and reliable determination of results, making an important contribution to the balance sheet and annual financial statements;
  • you ensure the reliability of financial information and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policy guidelines, and procedures.

For a portion of our research projects, we receive subsidies. Since the requirements from financiers and subsidy providers are constantly changing and becoming stricter, it is essential to keep your knowledge up to date and to monitor the project portfolio accordingly.

Your qualities

  • you have a completed higher professional education (HBO) degree in business economics, accountancy, or a comparable financial field;
  • you are proficient in both Dutch and English;
  • you have a customer- and service-oriented personality;
  • you are precise, work accurately, and provide timely feedback on the progress of your work;
  • you enjoy working with others;
  • you are eager to learn and have strong analytical skills.

You can see that there are plenty of challenges ahead of you. These challenges can also be seen as development opportunities. So if you do not yet have the track-record required in the vacancy, but do have solid work experience, we would also like to invite you to apply.
