Your job

Do you enjoy working as a legal council in an international environment focused on addressing major societal issues of our time? On a beautiful green campus with great colleagues? Then we are looking for you!

For the Legal Affairs & Liaison Office (LOLA) team within the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG), we are seeking an enthusiastic new legal council. ESG's activities raise various legal questions, especially in the context of research projects involving parties such as (inter)national governments, knowledge institutions, and companies. As a legal council, you play a key role in establishing contracts for the funding of groundbreaking research.

Within ESG, you will be part of a collaborative team with ample room for teamwork and personal initiative. You will also work closely with legal councils from other departments within Wageningen University & Research.

The position is for 24-28 hours per week, initially on a one-year contract.

Your responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for, among other things:

  • Advising project leaders/researchers and management on the legal aspects of research projects and other matters;
  • Drafting or reviewing a variety of agreements in Dutch and English, including research, consortium, non-disclosure, and grant agreements;
  • Participating in project groups on specific topics, in the WUR-wide Legal policy consultation, and maintaining contacts with other legal professionals within WUR.

Your qualities

We are looking for the following colleague:

  • Graduated in Dutch Law, preferably with a specialization in contract law;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly grasp the essence of relevant regulations and translate this into practical advice and clear agreements;
  • Able to work well in a team;
  • Excellent communication skills and strong oral and written proficiency in Dutch and English;
  • A confident personality, integrity, and organizational sensitivity;
  • Able to maintain an overview, prioritize, switch quickly, and be customer-oriented and stress-resistant.
In our international work environment, communication is increasingly conducted in English. For this position, language level C1 is required.

We offer you

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:

  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
  • a fixed December bonus of 8,3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.
Of course, excellent secondary employment benefits are accompanied by a competitive salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a market-based salary ranging from a minimum of €3,202 to a maximum of €5,949 for a full-time workweek of 36 hours, in accordance with the CAO Wageningen Research (scale 10-11). This position involves an appointment for 24 to 28 hours per week.

As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.

Wageningen University & Research encourages internal advancement opportunities and mobility with an internal recruitment policy. There are plenty of options for personal initiative in a learning environment, and we provide excellent training opportunities. We are offering a multi-faceted position in an international environment with a pleasant and open working atmosphere.
