Your job

Please note that an excellent command of the Dutch language is a requirement!

We are looking for a hands-on campaign marketer to start immediately, who, together with our communications advisor, will ensure high engagement and generosity on the part of various target groups of the University Fund Wageningen and Wageningen University & Research.

The challenge
University Fund Wageningen connects donors with Wageningen University & Research. Our aim is to support and encourage talent, research and entrepreneurship within WUR, especially for projects and initiatives that cannot be accomplished with regular funding. Our motto is ‘Creating a difference together’.
The goals of University Fund Wageningen are to support talent, support research and strengthen sustainable entrepreneurship.

As a campaign marketer, you will be pivotal to the success of the recruitment and retention programme of regular donors and medium donors who donate up to €10,000. You will coordinate all activities, from CRM selections to donor journeys, and organise DM/TM actions, communication with donors and events. With a keen eye for detail, you will ensure that all aspects come together seamlessly, from concept development to implementation. This role requires a combination of strategic insight, organisational skills and a proactive working attitude.

You will work in a team of 11 colleagues, each with their own specialism. You will work closely with colleagues from the Alumni Relations and Corporate Communications & Marketing departments at WUR and with the communications advisor and relationship manager for medium donors and estates within the University Fund team.

Your job

  • You will develop new propositions and effective campaigns to connect new donors to UFW and to further develop the relationship with existing donors.
  • You will be responsible for carrying out ongoing annual recruitment activities, including crowdfunding campaigns, and for ensuring an optimal donor journey per target group.
  • You will be responsible for the stewardship programme (newsletters, donor events, thank you processes) for different donor groups.
  • You will coordinate with the Alumni Office – where possible – to effectively integrate fundraising activities with the alumni programme.
  • You will collect and analyse data on (the donation behaviour of) existing and new target groups (especially alumni and existing donors) and will translate insights into proposals for creative annual campaigns and crowdfunding actions. To this end, you will actively work within our CRM database.
  • You will help to develop an online marketing strategy focused on ‘friendraising’ and fundraising in cooperation with the WUR Corporate Communications & Marketing department and using WUR social media channels. You will coordinate the production of communication resources, prepare briefings and monitor planning.
  • You will act as the first point of contact for regular donors who donate up to €10,000.

Your qualities

  • You should have an excellent command of the Dutch and English language, both orally and in writing;
  • You must have at least obtained a university of applied sciences (HBO) degree. For example in the subject of (online) marketing, communication or business management;
  • You should possess smooth writing skills when it comes to writing for recruitment;
  • You must be an enterprising and proactive team player with a feeling for relationships at various levels;
  • You should be familiar with project-based and plan-based work;
  • You must be solution and result-oriented;
  • You should have experience or interest in database management and analytics, as well as in working with CRM software. This involves interpreting and creating analyses and reports and understanding data recording and analysis capabilities, not functional management or technical aspects;
  • You should have an affinity with the identity and mission of Wageningen University & Research.
