Wageningen Food Views: standardised research products for scalable impact
If you work in the agri-food industry, you often wonder: what if? What if, for example, you need to assess human rights and environmental risks in palm oil supply chains, understand how climate change affects citrus yields, or identify credible carbon and biodiversity compensation options? Wageningen Food Views provides robust answers for businesses in the agri-food and financial sectors.
We develop standardised dashboards that translate complex data into clear, visual insights for frequently asked societal questions. Using structured, validated, and harmonised data from open sources and our own research, we highlight key risks and opportunities. Since 2019, we have supported international organisations with tailor-made solutions. Now, we are scaling up with standardised products to ensure broader accessibility and impact.
What's ahead in 2025
Due Diligence Dashboard (Launched January 2025)
Our first product provides national, subnational and sector-specific risk scores for multiple agricultural commodities across 15 sustainability themes - helping you assess risks in your supply chains.

Climate risks in agri sourcing
Our dashboard assesses short- and long-term climate change impacts on sourcing areas, focusing on priority hazards and yield effects related to changes in rainfall and temperature. Between 2021 and 2024, we studied medium- and long-term crop impacts in African countries. In 2025, we will pilot short-term effects (fruits) and seek partnerships with companies facing similar challenges. Future versions will incorporate socio-economic and indirect climate change effects.

Biodiversity impact for the financial sector
Together with the financial sector, we develop robust tools to help financial institutions understand and mitigate biodiversity risks. Our goal is to standardise these insights across sectors, ecosystems, and countries.

Carbon & biodiversity markets
Voluntary carbon and biodiversity credit markets offer opportunities for agro and forestry investments but lack transparency and credibility. We aim to develop a method for ex-ante project evaluation and economic valuation, focusing on biodiversity, water, and societal benefits. These insights will support investment decisions and business models at both project and country levels.

Consumer insights Global South
Consumer behaviour is shifting due to regional developments, creating both opportunities and risks for businesses and societies. However, consumption data in the Global South is often unreliable or only available at the national level. We seek partners to develop an AI-driven approach for a global database of local consumption trends.
