Facilities of the Dendrolab
The DendroLab is facilitated to carry out ring-width measurements and wood anatomical analyses. In addition, we also have facilities for sample collection and sample preparation.
Sample collection
Taking stem disks by using a chainsaw
Sanded oak disk
Coring a tree with an increment corer
Surfaced increment cores
Extracting a micro-sample with the TREPHOR
Micro-sample for cambial studies
Sample preparation
Cutting surface with Stanley knife (top) or razor blades (bottom) for ring-width measurements
Surfacing cores or radii with WSL core microtome (cutting length 40 cm) for image analysis
Sanding disks or cores (up to grid 1200 or more) with Festool RO150 FEQ geared eccentric sander incl. mobile dust extractor
Extracting cellulose (for C14-measurements purposes elsewhere)
Thin sectioning with a Reichert microtome for wood determination and image analysis
Thin sectioning with a WSL lightweight G.S.L.-1 microtome for wood determination and image analysis
Ring width measurement and wood anatomical analysis
LINTAB measuring stage and WinTSAP software (Rinntech)
Stereoscoop with video camera for image analysis with Visilog (Noesis)
Epson Expression 10000 XL A3 scanner
WinDENDRO image analysing software
