dr. AS (Selcen) Semercioz Oduncuoglu
OnderzoekerI am a food engineer with a PhD degree in Biotechnology. I completed my PhD degree with a high honour degree in 2020. My research focused on the assessments of the diet and its impact on lifespan expectations in laboratory animals within the frame of thermodynamic laws. I received a TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) grant for collaborative research with Aberdeen University, UK as a visiting PhD Scholar. During my PhD period, I also worked as a Research Assistant in the Food Engineering Department of Yeditepe University.
Following my PhD graduation, I completed a one-year postdoctoral laboratory training at the Bioscience Department, Teramo University, as an Erasmus+ scholar. Lastly, I received the EU Co-funded EIT Food-Talent Scholarship and worked on a short-term project with professionals from the Food Science and Technology area in the Spanish National Research Council.
I received my BSc degree and MSc degrees in Food Engineering. My MSc research focused on the valorisation of organic food wastes through novel techniques and utilization of them in sustainable wastewater treatment processes. During my MSc period, I simultaneously worked as a Responsible Food Engineer in the sauce production line of a large food company for 2 years.
Currently, I am a Postdoctoral researcher at FQD and aim to contribute to FQD with multidisciplinary projects where my food engineering profession and research experiences in academia will be useful.
In the Industry 4.0 era that we are currently in, my research area will focus on Digitalization in Food Safety & Quality Control and Management applications.
