Projects - PFP (Paul) Arens

Research in ornamental crops. Main aim is to study the genetics of traits and develop markers and tools that can assist breeding companies in facilitation of breeding programs. Besides that we are also involved in pre-breeding in some crops using or developing ways to get succesfull interspecific crosses and make use of ploïdy manupulation for crops improvement or fertility restoration. Examples of projects: Novel genetics and genomic tools for polyploid crops, Understanding the polyploïdisation process and genome complexity of hexaploid chrysanthemum, Botrytis resistance in Gerbera hybrida, EcoTulips: Combining resistance against TBV, fusarium and botrytis in tulip, Support Hortensia breeding and development of markers for resistance breeding in rose.
