Male or female?

At the entomology department we study the pleiotropic gene doublesex in Nasonia vitripennis and other pteromalidae wasps to unravel the molecular pathways that result in sexual dimorphism. The project aims to elucidate doublesex role in gene regulation, sexual selection and evolution while optimizing new biotechnological tools for DNA-protein interaction studies and insect genetic engineering.
