NIE Conference ‘Boundary Crossing: Transdisciplinary Teaching and Learning'
Looking back on our NIE conference 'Boundary Crossing: Transdisciplinary Teaching and Learning'
On 15 November, our NIE conference 'Transdisciplinary Teaching and Learning' -hosted by the alliance TU/e, WUR, UU and UMC Utrecht (EWUU) - took place on Wageningen Campus. What a fantastic event it was!
This conference was a great cherry on the cake for the Boundary Crossing@WUR project that ELS colleagues have been working on since 2018.
The conference, which was fully booked, brought together 150 participants. A varied group of teachers, researchers and students. All present with the same objective: to explore opportunities for inter- and transdisciplinary education to foster students’ – and other learners’ – ability to learn and work together across boundaries and develop their own professional identity.
The programme consisted of a plenary start, 3 rounds of seven parallel sessions, poster presentations, a manifesto building and networking moments in-between and at the end of the event.
Outcomes
We wrapped up the conference with a Manifesto Building activity. Inspired by a drawing made by Hasse Cox, who followed all conversations during the day, and going through all the phases of boundary crossing, we designed our future visions for transdisciplinary teaching and learning. The outcomes of this co-created manifesto, together with the presentations from the parallel sessions, can be found here.
Other interesting information
We gladly share with you the links of the two websites that were launched at the start of the NIE conference: Challenge Based Learning and Boundary Crossing @ WUR.
See you in Utrecht next year!
We hope to meet you (again) at future events and certainly also at the ITD24 conference 'Inter- and Transdisciplinarity Beyond Buzzwords: Educational Pathways for Sustainable Research Collaborations' that will take place in Utrecht from 4-8 November 2024. You can find more information here.
