Renate Wesselink and Yvette Baggen are involved in the Erasmus+ ECoGREEN project. This project aims to establish a sustainable and green campus platform that facilitates collaboration in education and research among Indonesian and European partners to address sustainability challenges in Indonesia.

On behalf of the Dutch project team, Yvette travelled to Indonesia in December to join the conference and hackathon as organized by ECoGREEN.

Specifically, the Erasmus+ ECoGREEN Consortium in collaboration withISUSTAIN (Interdisciplinary Research Center for Circular Economy and Sustainability) of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR, Indonesia) organized an international interdisciplinary conference in Bandung as part of the dissemination program of the consortium. During the conference, students, teachers and scholars shared their experiences with green and entrepreneurial education. Yvette Baggen contributed to the conference with a keynote on how entrepreneurial learning can empower students to tackle sustainability-related issues.

After the conference, the Erasmus+ ECoGREEN Consortium travelled to Jakarta for a three-day hackathon in which Flamish, Dutch and Indonesian students worked in mixed teams on sustainability challenges of small and medium-sized enterprises of regional business owners. During the hackathon, the students participated in different workshops, stimulating them to elaborate their potential solutions for the business owners, and to pitch their solutions on the third day for a jury and the business owners. The high motivation of the students, in combination with the intense program, including social activities and karaoke, resulted in an enriching, unforgettable learning experience for all participants, business owners and teachers involved.
