WIMEK Staff & Postdocs

Membership

All professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and postdocs of chairgroups that fully participate in WIMEK are automatically members of WIMEK.

There are chair groups that partially participate in WIMEK; in these cases the chair group indicates which members of their research staff participate in WIMEK.

Scientists from other units within WUR who want to participate in WIMEK can contact the WIMEK executive secretary here.

Why Join WIMEK?

Our aim is to organize the training of PhD candidates and postdocs to see them become independent researchers. Together with the support of WIMEK (staff)members, we set up a base for good education for scientists.

WIMEK can help members with the coordination and logistics of organising courses and events. Furthermore, WIMEK members will often be involved with the supervision of PhD candidates. Wageningen Graduates Schools (WGS), of which WIMEK is a part, developed a WGS Guide for supervisors containing the information you need as a PhD supervisor.

WGS regularly organises PhD supervision courses. All WIMEK postdocs qualify for a reduced course fee for all WGS PhD / postdoc courses.

I have a new PhD candidate – what do I need to do?
