Access to online courses

There are several places where you can find MOOCs:

WUR MOOCs

These are MOOCs developed by WUR and fit within the domain of this university. These courses are offered on the online platform edX. As a WUR student/staff member you can get a coupon code by sending an email to flexible.education@wur.nl. The coupon code will give you free access to the course. The list of WUR MOOCs available and eligible for a coupon code can be found on edX.

All other MOOCs

Many providers offer MOOCs, including not only universities but also commercial companies such as IBM. Most MOOCs are offered on the platforms:

WUR Flexible Online Courses

These are 100% online asynchronous courses listed in the WUR Osiris Study Handbook. Most of these courses run on Brightspace. Registration for these courses is done through Osiris, and the number of credits is fixed.

If you still have questions about the access opportunity of a specific course, either check if the course is listed on: List of finished YMO courses or send an email.

In this image, a flowchart is shown with the possibilities regarding MOOCs and information about the connected credits. First the possibilities regarding MOOCs: In case a WUR MOOC was found on edX, they can either be part of the WUR Osiris Study Handbook, which means you can enrol through Osiris. Or they aren’t part of the Study Handbook, in that case, it can become a YMO course and you can obtain a coupon code from the FE team. In case a non-WUR MOOC was found on edX, or a MOOC was found on a different platform with online courses, costs might be involved in order to be able to follow the course. Then, the information regarding credits: The ECTS could already be determined upfront, this is the case if the course is part of the WUR Osiris Study Handbook, or if the MOOC is listed on the list of finished YMO courses. In all other cases, the ECTS still need to be determined.
