Extracurriculair activities

We have a lot of organisations that offer all kinds of activities. Activities connect people. Some organisations offer a wide range of activities and services so people from all over the world will meet. Foreign students are also welcome to join the study association of their study!

As an international orientated organisation, the main language in lectures and research is English. So it is very important that your English is good. If you want to work next to your study or stay in the Netherlands, it is advisable to learn Dutch as well.

Wageningen University and Research is a neutral organisation, WUR does not support any (party-) political or religious activities. That is why we don't have specific prayer rooms. We do have contemplation rooms on Campus, to be used for different purposes. Ask the reception or secretary for the exact location in the building and the availability of the space.

If you would like to cook your own food you can buy food in supermarkets, food shops and open-air markets. Items on sale can be recognised by the words “aanbieding” or “reclame”. All pre-packaged items carry an expiration date. Look for the phrases “tenminste houdbaar tot (THT)” (best before) or “uiterste verkoopdatum” (sell-by date).

Wageningen offers a variety of shops. You will find the largest concentration of shops in the Hoogstraat, but there are plenty of other places in town where you can do your shopping too.
