More diverse and sustainable proteins

Future protein systems will include a diverse portfolio of proteins. Options will be tailored to local resources based on the availability (or scarcity) of fertile land and water. In Europe pulse and grain production will be strengthened by successful breeding programs. Resource-independent protein production systems using fermentation, microalgae, or aquatic crops will ensure global food security in the face of accelerating climate change.
