Help from Wageningen University & Research
If you feel you can’t solve your problem yourself, then please make an appointment with a student mentor at the university. Your first point of contact is your student advisor. They are happy to advise you on the best option to follow.
Click on the links below to find out what they can help you with. We also advise you to have a look at the training courses Student Training & Support offer free of charge. A new program starts every study period.
Student Physician / General Practitioner
In The Netherlands, your General Practitioner - or 'Huisarts' in Dutch - is always your first point of contact for all medical matters. The GP plays a key role in the Dutch healthcare system, treating patients for basic non-surgical problems and providing advice on most of your general health issues. The GP is also your link to most other services such as hospitalisation, specialists, midwifery etc. If necessary, the GP will refer you to a medical specialist at short notice. The GP keeps your medical records up to date and prescribes your medication.
Study Adviser
With a new study comes new experiences. A study adviser can help you define your study path and goals. Whether you need advice about which courses to take or how to improve your studying skills, the study adviser is the first one to get in touch with.
Confidential Counsellor for Students
If you, as a student, are faced with undesirable or transgressive behaviour, you can contact the confidential counsellor for students, even - or especially - if you are in doubt. The confidential counsellor advises and guides you in the possible steps you can take. For example, they can help you to talk about your experience with the 'other party'. In any case, you remain in control! They work independently and everything you discuss is confidential.
Student Psychologist
Are you a student at WUR? The student psychologist can help you with personal problems that can lead to study delay, or with study-related health problems. You can come to us with family problems, insecurity, anxiety or gloominess, but also depression, addiction, tension or mourning. Don't hesitate to reach out; after all, prevention is better than cure.
Student Dean
Wageningen University & Research offers its students the help of student deans. All contact between student and student deans is being treated confidentially. We have listed several topics on which student deans can advise and assist you. Also, you can find information on how to make an appointment.
Student Life Coach
In a Heart-to-Heart conversation, you can talk to a professional life coach about challenging situations in your life. Loneliness, relationships (love, friends, family), motivation, health, making choices, or questions about your future. Nothing is taboo.
