Are you a student dealing with chronic pain and/or fatigue? These challenges can significantly disrupt your daily life and your future plans. They may also impact your confidence in your body and your overall quality of life.
Would you like to learn how to manage your pain and fatigue symptoms differently, so you can start enjoying life again? If so, please read on.
Suffering = Pain x Resistance
Being in constant pain or fatigue can be extremely frustrating. It can make you feel powerless, angry, frightened or sad, and your deepest desire is to live a life without pain. You may think, 'If only I could overcome this pain, then I could live the life I want'.
Often long-term pain (or fatigue) symptoms have no clear solution. Physically, the pain may no longer have an obvious cause, but that doesn't make it hurt less. What won't help you get on is fighting the pain all the time. In fact, it often backfires because your constant struggle makes it harder and harder to focus on the things that really matter to you.
In this training course, you will discover how to generate energy by letting go of the struggle and accepting the presence of pain or fatigue in your life. You will also learn how to manage this new-found energy and channel it into the aspects of your life that are of value to you.
For Whom?
This programme is tailored for students experiencing symptoms of pain or fatigue that interfere with their daily activities. These may include conditions such as CANS/RSI, long COVID, tension headaches, persistent symptoms following a concussion, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue/overexertion, or fibromyalgia.
Throughout six sessions, we will explore a range of topics, including:
- Understanding your symptoms: Identifying the factors that influence, sustain, or worsen your symptoms, such as personality traits and your social environment.
- Distinguishing between 'clean' and 'dirty' pain: Learning how your thoughts, underlying beliefs, emotions, and behaviours impact your pain and fatigue symptoms.
- Finding balance in life: Discovering what energises you and what depletes you, both physically and mentally, and developing a personalised strategy to create a sustainable balance.
- Sensitisation: Understanding how repeated pain stimuli create ‘elephant tracks’ between nerve cells, resulting in increased pain sensitivity. We will explore techniques to help recalibrate this hypersensitive system.
- Creating space to address your specific concerns and themes.
