Training course
Speaking with Ease
Your stomach is queasy, your palms are sweaty, your mind has gone blank about your opening lines and your mind wanders to negative thoughts…
Recognise this? While we all can feel nervous for public speaking, we don't really train in dealing with the stress, and we don't learn how to decrease the influence it has on our presentation. Time to make a change!
Feel better when speaking to an audience
In this training course, you will learn strategies for staying calm and feeling better when presenting to an audience, and improve your presentation skills.
Topics: preparation, structure, non-verbal communication, voice and interaction with audience. The tips and exercises will make you better prepared for presenting your ideas!
Workshop 1: Dealing with nerves - theory and practice
This session an array of exercises and tips are presented to help prevent and decrease nervousness during your preparation. By looking at nerves from a biological, physical and psychological perspective, and by doing some simple presentation exercises, you can find out what works best for you.
Workshop 2: Non-verbal Communication
In this session we address how your body language can counter feelings of nervousness, and we practice how you can use your non-verbal communication (posture, voice, gestures) to make your message come across clearly. Preparation: 5 min presentation.
Workshop 3: Voice and interaction
In this session we will investigate how we can use our voice to match what you say and how you say it. If this is congruent, you and your audience will feel more at ease. Next, you learn how to engage the audience in your presentation and how to deal with questions in a confident way.
Preparation: 5 min presentation.
