New cleaning organisation for WUR buildings on campus
In the coming years, Vebego will be responsible for cleaning the WUR buildings on campus. Many cleaning colleagues from our current supplier are joining Vebego. So, you will continue to see familiar faces. This new cleaning contract also focuses on sustainability and well-being.
From Sunday, 1 December, Vebego will work in the WUR buildings at the Campus and the surrounding area. Vebego will also be responsible for floor and window cleaning and sanitary products. Nothing will change for the locations outside Wageningen, Bennekom and Randwijk, The cleaning organisation Victoria will continue to work there.
You will continue to see the familiar faces of the cleaners in your building because the vast majority of the current cleaning colleagues will switch from Asito (the current supplier) to Vebego. In addition, the cleaners will continue to carry out their work during the day where possible, making them visible and accessible to the students and employees working in the buildings.
More than just clean buildings
The cleaning contract has a term of five years and can be extended. This term offers plenty of scope to realise the joint ambitions because WUR’s aim is more than just clean buildings.
WUR sets high standards for Vebego in terms of social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. Vebego shares this vision: the well-being of their cleaners is central. The company invests heavily in the vitality and development of its employees and follows the Code of Responsible Market Conduct.
WUR and Vebego want to offer a positive working environment, where everyone is welcome, and cleaning staff are proud of their work and know that the work they do is important. Trust and appreciation are at the heart of this work culture, with plenty of room for personal input.
What is already clean doesn’t need to be cleaned again
The cleaning contract is based on result-oriented cleaning. This is not about how often or at what times a room is cleaned, but about getting the desired cleaning result. Take, for example, the office spaces. From this, you record exactly what 'clean' means, such as an empty rubbish bin, clean tables without dirt, and other specific criteria. A desk that is already clean does not need to be cleaned again. This gives the cleaners freedom to determine their own schedule and working methods, which makes the work more efficient and fun.
Facilities and Services and Vebego strive to reduce the impact of cleaning as a business process on the environment. Vebego does this, among other things, by using environmentally friendly products and materials, but also, for example, by training cleaning employees in sustainable cleaning, so that less detergent and water are used. Clear, measurable goals have been set with regard to CO2 reduction, waste disposal, climate adaptation, circularity and SROI deployment.
Contract manager Marcha Sperna Weiland-Verhoeven says enthusiastically: "We are looking forward to working with Vebego. The emphasis on being a good employer and sustainability is completely in line with our values. There will be an initial transition period in which we get to know each other well, and then we’ll put our joint vision into practice together with Vebego."
