CGN oat collection

The collection of cultivated oats (A. sativa) consists of 211 cultivars, 65 landraces, and 101 breeding lines. The population type of 18 accessions is unknown. Additionally, there are nine accessions of five other species: A. barbata, A. brevis, A. orientalis, A. sterilis, and A. strigosa.

The collection is largely of European and North American origin. Only a limited number of accessions are from the centers of origin of Avena (Near East and Mediterranean). The collection also includes accessions from the Netherlands, amongst them landraces such as Zwarte President, Naakte Haver uit Overasselt, Gele Timmermans and several Tros oats.
