The apex, as a growth point, is responsible for the development of vital plant organs. Logically, the temperature at this point is directly linked to the laying down of leaves and fruit. Research at Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture shows that the temperature at the apex often differs from the measured air temperature. Also, these differences are significantly influenced by the climate factors light and moisture.
