WDCC News Q4: Data Science Education
WUR is planning to develop a bachelor programme focused on Data Science applications in Life Science domains. This is a natural step after several years of strenghtening data science education mainly on the MSc level. Having own BSc students with a sound Data Science knowledge and skills opens new possibilities to teach more advanced data science and AI applications on MSc level and may potentially lead to PhD candidates able to conduct independent research in Data Science applications in Life Science.
WUR is exploring the potential of Quantum Computing to solve questions in Life Sciences. In November WUR organized a meet-up where colleagues from Quantum.Amsterdam together with a number of WUR researchers discussed the state of Quantum Computing research and applications and the possibilities this technology might offer in the future to WUR research questions.
