Rosa – MSc Nutrition and Health - traineeship at Sligro Food Group – April 2022

My name is Rosa and I graduated with a Master degree in Nutrition and Health in February 2022. I thought finding a job could be very challenging but I got the great opportunity to start a Management traineeship at Sligro Food Group directly after graduation.

During my Bachelor Nutrition and Health I found out that I was interested in the (food) related business companies together with human behavior. However, for my internship I ended up working at the marketing department of Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE). During this incredibly instructive internship, I felt really comfortable in such a big company and found out that my interests were much broader than only nutrition. Every day I got new energy what made me very enthusiastic.

During my studies I struggled a lot about who I am and what are the possibilities when you have a Master’s degree. This was the reason why I contacted the Student Career Center. I had a few conversations with the Career Coach Elizabeth and she told me about the traineeship opportunities both in a company as intercompany. This provided me with useful information.

Before I talked to Student Career Services, I was not aware of the number of career opportunities. It opened my eyes of the different career perspectives there are and that my personal motivation was very helpful in being selected for the internship at JDE. That I was able to be selected for a management traineeship with a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Health was a surprise to me. Academic studies are a way of thinking, and not always a predetermined career direction.

After a few applications for different traineeships, I was among the lucky ones to be selected for the Sligro Traineeship. Within Sligro Food group I can combine my passion for food with my interest in business, a unique opportunity!
