Breeding for Resistance student Othman al Tamimi

I now grasp the nuances of field resistance and tolerance, which will transform our approach to breeding.

Othman Al Tamimi, Breeding Assistant at Genome Seeds, pursued four Online Master’s Courses to deepen his knowledge while balancing work and family commitments. Thanks to these courses, he gained valuable insights into genetic processes, greatly enhancing his role in plant breeding.

The Breeding for Resistance course has been a game changer for my understanding of plant genetics. From the discovery of resistant genes to the intricacies of marker-assisted selection, I’ve gained invaluable insights. I now feel confident in introducing resistant genes from parent lines to other plants, which is crucial as we work on developing cucumber varieties resistant to the cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and tomatoes resistant to the ToBRFV virus. This knowledge is not just theoretical; it's actively shaping our breeding strategies!
