Summer School Circular Textiles Lab
The future is a circular economy for the textile and fashion industry. Today, many initiatives are working on reducing the huge negative impact the industry has on climate. It is clear, the sector needs more circular ideas to make a substantial change! In this Summer School you will be working in teams to jointly create an initiative that helps to foster systemic change in the (biobased) textile industry. The week will be full of masterclasses, workshops and coaching sessions with WUR experts and well-known guest speakers. This all with not only the aim to help you understand the complex steps in the value chain and the factors that influence them but also to help you become a change agent yourself.

Why follow this course?
You will start the programme in our online learning environment with short knowledge clips, readings, assignments and a series of podcasts that will guide you through the world of bio-based materials and their application in the textile industry. In the Summer School week, you will enjoy masterclasses or visit pioneering businesses in the mornings. In the afternoon you will be working in groups on an assignment and there is time for expert and peer feedback.

This Summer School is intended for professionals involved in all stages of the biobased textile industry who dream of a circular textile and fashion industry. Are you an agri-food expert, designer, freelance, entrepreneur or product developer? Or maybe a sustainability manager? We need you in this programme!
Programme & topics
In this course, you will embark on a journey to explore the world of biobased materials for textile applications. From exploring available biobased materials and their properties, to designing a garment following sustainable design approaches.
