Spanish 3 (face-to-face)
Take this course if you can already understand simple words, sentences, and short texts in Spanish. You can also take this course if you have completed our course Spanish 2. After the course Spanish 3, you can continue on to Spanish 4.
Target group
Spanish 3 is for anyone who has taken 3 to 4 years of Spanish at middle school and wishes to refresh their Spanish language skills, or anyone who has completed our course Spanish 2. The maximum number of participants per group is 16.

Course content
After this course, you will be able to:
- hold short, simple conversations about personal topics;
- understand the key information in everyday conversations about familiar topics;
- understand the key information in short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements);
- write short, simple messages or emails.
The emphasis is on speaking skills. Reading, listening, and writing skills will also be addressed. You will also learn more about the Spanish culture. After completing this course, you can take the course Spanish 4 (halfway to B1).
What will the classes cover?
Skills:
- Talking about personal experiences and sharing stories
- Planning and discussing future activities
- Giving and following instructions or commands in everyday situations (like cooking)
- Expressing opinions and preferences in various contexts
- Choosing products, activities or places using comparisons
- Small talk about daily routines, past vacations, upcoming plans and hypothetical situations
- Asking about others' experiences, offering advice and expressing sympathy
- Describing ongoing actions in the past and how they connect to present experiences
- Negotiating and discussing possibilities or hypothetical scenarios
Grammar:
- Regular and irregular forms of the gerund
- Present continuous (estar + gerund), past forms and temporal markers
- Simple Conditional of 'poder' and 'importer'
- Irregular forms of the present perfect and past simple
- Future expressions with 'querer'/'pensar' + infinitive and 'ir a' + infinitive
- Hypotheses and wishes in the present
- Use of time adverbs (ya/todavia no), direct object pronouns and conjunctions (y, pero...)
- Expressing habits with the verb 'soler' + infinitive
- Expressing how you feel using 'doler', 'ser', 'estar' and 'tener'
- Affirmative Imperative and pronouns in the imperative
- Temperal markers for the past and present
Planning
This course includes 8 classes, one per week. Each class is 1 hour and 45 minutes. You should expect to spend 2 to 3 hours on homework each week.

To receive a Wageningen in'to Languages certificate, a minimum attendance of 80% is required. A diagnostic test is optional.
