Abstract

The transition to renewable energy sources has an impact on the landscape. In general, there is public support for renewable energy. However, when initiatives are to be implemented they often face local resistance. Therefore, public acceptance is considered one of the keys for a successful transition to renewable energy. One approach to improve public acceptance is to emphasize ‘landscape quality’ in the design phase. The combination and possible connection of landscape quality and public acceptance is the motivation for this research into the possibilities for solar energy to enrich the landscape.
