What is it about?

A systematic review is a review that aims to identify, select and critically appraise all relevant literature in a systematic, reproducible and unbiased way to answer a clear and explicit review question. During the past few decades, the number of systematic literature reviews has increased exponentially as has the amount of scientific literature.

The huge increase in literature means that systematic searches in bibliographic databases as part of a systematic literature review may yield a huge amount of publications. Setting up a comprehensive search strategy and screening all retrieved publications to identify the relevant ones is time-consuming. How can we make searching for and selecting studies more efficient? Can new AI-based tools, help us, how do they work and what are the pitfalls?

To help answer these questions, WUR Library is organising a dialogue session on AI in systematic review. The session will focus on screening and selecting literature using AI tools in a systematic literature review.

Programme

The Library Dialogue will start with introductory presentations. Speakers include:

  • Felix Weijdema, Information specialist at Utrecht University
  • Duco Veen, Assistant Professor at the department of Methodology and Statistics at Utrecht University
  • Murat Sartas & Sarah Cumming, Knowledge, Technology & Innovation Group, Wageningen University & Research
  • Raymon van Dinter, PhD candidate at the Information Technology Group at Wageningen University & Research
  • Ria Derkx, Information specialist, WUR Library

At the end of the presentations, participants in the Library Dialogue will be invited to discuss their experiences with AI tools.
