French 2 (face-to-face)
Do you want to learn French for a holiday or for your study or work? Did you take French in school, but it has become a little rusty? French 2 will quickly help you get back on track! The course focuses on practical skills and introduces you to French culture.
Target group
French 2 is for anyone who has completed the course French 1. Did you have French as a subject in secondary school (HAVO/VWO) or have you gained knowledge of the French language in some other way? If so, you may be able to start French 2 straight away. You do have to complete an intake. This consists of a short telephone conversation with the teacher. The intake is free of charge. If you would like to book an intake, email your telephone number to into@wur.nl. The maximum number of participants per group is 16.

Course content
After this course, you will be able to:
- hold short, simple conversations about personal topics;
- understand the key information in everyday conversations about familiar topics;
- understand the key information in short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements);
- write short, simple messages or emails.
The emphasis is on speaking skills. Reading, listening, and writing skills will also be addressed. You will also learn more about French culture. After completing this course, you can take the course French 3 (A2 level).

Grammar
In this French 2 course, we cover a range of grammar topics, including:
- Reflexive verbs
- Asking questions
- Adverbs
- The passé composé (simple past)
- Different negation forms
- The imperative
- The partitive article / quantities
- Personal pronoun as a direct object
- The futur proche (future tense)
Planning
This course includes 8 classes, one per week. Each class is 1 hour and 45 minutes. You should expect to spend 2 to 3 hours on homework each week. French is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch and English as supporting languages.

Certification and exam
To receive a Wageningen in'to Languages certificate, a minimum attendance of 80% is required. A diagnostic test is optional.
