Creating Tomorrow The Challenges

The Challenges are part of Creating Tomorrow, an initiative of ARCADIS and KNHM in collaboration with universities.

There will be three Challenge rounds, each round has three teams and one winner. The final three winners (of each Challenge) will compete with each other in November 2013.

The first Challenge: Healthy planet was won by team Hellouw. (See news item)

The second Challenge: Urban Deltas is now open for registration and will take place in April 2013.

The third Challenge: Connections will be open after the previous Challenge is closed and the winner is announced and will take place in September 2013.

Why take part?

• The first prize: 10.000 euros for the winning team.
• You contribute to solutions to actual and urgent problems concerning one of our relations.
• You get to know interesting organizations which are involved in future-oriented and socially relevant issues.
• You are invited to attend the What’s Next meeting Healthy Planet on the 17th of January 2013 where both national and international speakers will perform.
• The 3 winning teams are invited to the finals in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
• Hands on work and a lot of fun!

The competition

A total of nine multidisciplinary teams, each consisting of a maximum of six members. The teams enter the contest in three different Challenges, three teams per Challenge. The winning team of each Challenge goes to the finals on November 13th 2013 in Amsterdam. You and your team spend forty-eight hours in a pressure cooker in order to come up with an answer to your challenge. You are free to apply whatever resources and aids you possess. Use your personal network, social media and the internet. And use your wild cards wisely, to receive help from experts in the relevant fields. That is not all! You will stay in our villa, which is equipped with dormitories to catch a power-nap and a chef to keep you well fed throughout The Challenge.
