Do you often search for publications using Google Scholar or other search tools? And do you often search for publications when you're not on campus? With the Lean Library browser extension, you can easily access digital library resources, even when you're off-campus. The extension notifies you when WUR Library provides access to a publication. It also guides you to freely available (open access) publications.

What is Lean Library?

Lean Library is a tool that provides quick and easy access to subscribed online resources such as databases and e-journals, as well as open access articles. You can download the browser extension for free to access the Library’s resources off campus.

Once you've installed the extension, select 'Wageningen University & Research' to activate it.

How does it work?

  • The browser extension will show a pop-up message when you are on a publishers’ website with licensed material.
  • You then can click on the access button and login with your WUR account.
  • The extension will search for alternative, legal ways to get the full text, including Open Access, if the Library doesn't have a subscription.
  • The Lean Library browser extension works on desktops and laptops only and is available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Safari and iOS. The extension is no longer available for Internet Explorer (IE).
