Bridging Worlds: Promoting Knowledge Dialogues for Amazon Conservation and Sustainable Development

The event will launch the SPA Policy Brief "Protected Areas and Indigenous Territories: Pillars for Achieving Conservation Goals in the Amazon" and the White Paper "Promoting Knowledge Dialogues in Amazonia." It will foster a strategic dialogue on the essential roles of PAs and ITs in Amazon conservation, emphasizing the integration of Indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) to enhance the effectiveness of these conservation areas. By bringing together experts and stakeholders, the panel will explore how collaboration between traditional practices and modern science can address current threats to biodiversity while highlighting best practices in governance and management. Key findings from the Policy Brief will illustrate how PAs and ITs are vital for ecological integrity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development, while insights from the White Paper will showcase the value of knowledge dialogues in fostering holistic conservation approaches.
