WUR Drift Calculator
The WUR Drift Calculator is a tool to quantify spray drift deposits onto surface waters and non-target terrestrial areas near a sprayed field or orchard. A practical tool for researchers, regulators and others interested in spray drift and its mitigation.
The calculator uses statistically obtained regression curves to calculate spray deposition next to the sprayed field. The spray drift curves are based on the latest experimental data for field crops, fruit orchards and avenue tree nurseries.
The calculator has four separate units, to compute spray drift deposits onto (a) surface water next to a field crop, (b) surface water next to a fruit tree orchard or avenue tree nursery, (c) non-target terrestrial area next to a field crop, (d) non-target terrestrial area next to an orchard or avenue tree nursery. The surface water belongs to a standardized ditch. The non-target area is defined separately for arthropods and plants outside the treated fields.
Download and installation
The link below can be used to download the software package. The installation file WDC26setup.exe unzips five files and copies them into the default folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\WUR Drift Calculator" or any folder the user can select instead. The unzipped files are:
- WDC26_32.exe: the actual WUR Drift Calculator program for 32bits systems
- WDC26_64.exe: the actual WUR Drift Calculator program for 64bits systems
- WDC26manual.pdf: the user manual with the software
- WDC26help.chm: offline help file connected to the software
- Readme_WDC26.txt: text file with latest information and instructions
Manual and references
The user manual is also available separately. It describes the use of the calculator, but it also contains background information on spray drift.
