Symposium
Symposium on insects to feed livestock.
Producing livestock has a tremendous ecological footprint, especially associated with feed production. The main protein source in feed is soymeal or fishmeal, both of which are unsustainable. Can we replace soy and fishmeal by a sustainable protein source through circular production?
Livestock like poultry naturally consume insects and they actively search for them when available. The symposium ‘Insects as sustainable feed: an interdisciplinary approach’ addresses environmental, behavioural, health, ethical, consumer and economic perspectives. Scientists and stakeholders will address these topics based on recent interdisciplinary scientific research.
The meeting provides up-to-date information relevant to anyone interested in sustainable food production. Presentations, discussions, lunch, snacks, drinks and networking. This meeting is ideal for developing your network in the realms of the proteins of the future.
