We offer industry, sector and governments development opportunities for applied innovations for all livestock farming sectors.
-
Emissions & manure valorisation
Wageningen Livestock Research contributes to sustainable livestock farming by developing knowledge and innovations in the field of greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen, particulate matter and odour from livestock farms. In addition, our experts study solutions for manure processing and manure valorisation.
-
Animal breeding & genomics
Wageningen Livestock Research breeding experts use genetic properties and information on (farm) animals and fish to develop the best possible breeding schemes for the selection of animals. Thus, we contribute to livestock and fish farming innovations, increasing sustainability and improving the economy, environment, animal health, and animal welfare.
-
Animal farming systems
The food system and livestock farming deal with many sustainability challenges. We face climate change, environmental impacts of animal production and biodiversity loss. At the same time, urbanisation, a growing world population and increasing demand for (animal) protein form factors in the discussion on how to feed the world. Experts of Wageningen Livestock Research study the role of animals within the food system and, in doing that, strive to improve the quality of life for humans, animals and nature.
