Project
Horti Nigeria: a more sustainable Nigerian horticulture sector
With the Horti Nigeria project, Wageningen University & Research with partners want to facilitate the development of a sustainable and inclusive horticulture sector. A sector that contributes to food and nutrition security in Nigeria.
The project is aligned with the Dutch and Nigerian food security and private sector development activities and takes place within the framework of the larger transformation of food systems in Nigeria. Horti Nigeria will enhance the social capital and contribute to the empowerment of smallholder farmers and value chain actors, with a particular focus on women and youth, and it will incentivize value chains and support the sustainable integration of entrepreneurial farmers into profitable markets.
Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, in collaboration with Wageningen Plant Research and Royal Tropical Institute KIT, will be providing strategic and technical knowledge in areas such as capacity building, innovation-led production systems, youth and gender inclusion, sector coordination, enabling environment, agribusiness growth or monitoring and learning.
