Regenerative business and leadership practices in the fashion industry
Ishwari Thopte has over 20 years of experience and knowledge in the global fashion and tech industry, which she will build upon for her Ph.D. at Wageningen University. Her research focuses on 'Regenerative business and leadership practices in the fashion industry'.
In my research, I aim to address the sustainability crises facing the fashion industry by exploring the potential of regenerative leadership principles. Through a comprehensive investigation, including systematic literature review and practice review, I aim to develop regenerative business and leadership principles tailored specifically for the fashion sector. What distinguishes my approach is the incorporation of eastern philosophical perspectives and indigenous wisdom, filling a notable gap in existing literature and offering a holistic perspective on regenerative practices. These principles will be rigorously tested and validated through coaching interventions, facilitating a meaningful transition towards regenerative practices among traditional leadership. Embracing interdisciplinary insights and a global perspective, my research seeks to propel sustainable fashion entrepreneurship and leadership towards a more net positive regenerative future.
Beyond academia and professional engagements, I find joy in exploring the world, immersing myself in different cultures, and pursuing personal interests like dance, yoga, and meditation. These experiences not only enrich my life but also inspire my work in academia, as I strive to contribute meaningfully to shaping a more regenerative and inclusive future for the fashion industry and beyond.
