PhD Alumnus Anouschka Groeneveld
Anouschka Groeneveld obtained her PhD degree on the “Complexity in land use change; the case of the Dutch dairy sector”. In a cooperation between the AEP and LUP (Land Use Planning) chair groups.
After graduating, Anouschka started as consultant at Capgemini, focusing on digital government services. “This job gave me the opportunity to learn more about the public sector, both within the Dutch and European context, and to further develop my research skills, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.” After her experience at Capgemini, she obtained a position as a data scientist and scrum master at the Dutch tax authority. In this job she analysed data and developed models. “This job offered me the opportunity to keep developing myself, to learn more technical skills and to work with large data sets.” Currently Anouschka is working as a researcher for the municipality of Ede, where she aims to provide policy insights based on research and data. “The job is very diverse. A municipality is involved in many areas (environment, economics, housing, spatial planning, health, food, etc.) and so there is always something new to discover”.
Anouschka explains how a lot of her experiences at AEP are still useful in her current job. During her time as a PhD student, she learned how to do research, obtained experience in modelling techniques and in how to manage projects. “Apart from the acquired knowledge and skills, I also really enjoyed my colleagues, the many good talks during coffee and lunch breaks and nice activities with the group (for instance running a relay race with my colleagues during the Veluwe run or competing with our team during WUR day).”
